THE CIRCLE OF CURATORS — ISSUE 3 IS OUT NOW
We are pleased to present Issue 3 of The Circle of Curators, our August 2026 edition.
With every new issue, the magazine becomes a meeting place for artists with very different stories, backgrounds and ways of working. We have never been interested in finding a single theme that ties everything neatly together. Instead, we like the contrast: moving from one artist to another and finding completely different approaches to painting, materials, colour and the creative process. That variety is very much part of this third issue.
This time, we also travel to Basel, with features dedicated to Art Basel Basel 2026 and Liste Art Fair Basel 2026. Together, they offer two perspectives on a week when the city becomes one of the main meeting points of the international art world, bringing together galleries, artists, collectors and curators from around the world.
A large part of the issue is, of course, devoted to the artists themselves. Our Featured Artists section introduces a new selection of contemporary practices, from abstraction and highly textured painting to figurative and hyperrealist work. Rather than simply presenting the finished pieces, we wanted these pages to give some space to the ideas, experiences and processes behind them.
On the cover is Franchesca Ocampo’s Lost Wisdom, an image that opens an issue full of very different visual worlds.
And among all this contemporary work, we have also made room to return to art history. We revisit one of those famous paintings we think we already know simply because we have seen it hundreds of times. Looking at it again — and a little more closely — is a reminder that even the most familiar works can still surprise us.
